Google Ads are Going Bye-Bye

I'm sure someone out there is earning a buck or two by placing Google Ads on their blog but it sure isn't me. Besides, I'm sick of seeing ads for "How I Lost 55 Pounds" peppered in with wine and food links I've never visited myself. Arrivederci, baby!

Hi David - I never put them up before because of my employment, but I always suspected it was a waste of time. I saw Catavino took the ads off as well - sounds like they were getting a Starbucks latte every month, and they had a pretty busy site. I'm sure Google will figure it out someday, but it ain't there yet. Congrats on your Non-Profit venture - your charity will not go unnoticed... :)

I was on the quarterly cup of coffee program myself. I haven't gone entirely "non-profit" though, as I'm sticking with the Amazon shop for the time being. At least I can choose and control the content of the product placements, offering my readers recommendations that I read/listen to myself.

Dear David-
I whole heartedly agree. I refuse Google Ads. They look junky and I read blogs to relax, learn and be entertained.
Now, can you abolish the word "foodie" for me?

I'll see what I can do, Genevelyn, but only if you can banish "my bad" from the popular lexicon.

Welcome to the club. No need for them till your traffic is large enough. Even with our numbers, we made maybe 100bucks every 1-2 months. I rather have someone who values our sites content donate, or sponsore.

A hundred bucks every month or two is nothing to sneeze at, Ryan, though I still agree with Genevelyn in not particularly liking the way Google Ads look. Besides, I really was making only a couple of bucks a month. I'm not sure I'll ever reconsider, certainly not until my readership skyrockets at least.
