Name That Wine

It's that time again.... It's cold out and I'm chilling out.  Recognize that cork?  The photo gives one obvious hint and I'll give another: it's not Beaujolais.  So, can you name what I'm drinking?

Noella Morantin Cot

Not a bad guess, Tom, but nope -- that was last year.

Okay, this is admittedly a pretty obscure entry so I'll drop a couple more hints: TWG was correct on the variety (he may have had help from a little bird) and the region. That leaves just the producer, the wine name, and, if you really want to put it all out there, the vintage. Keep 'em coming....

No clue, but that looks like one of Paris Hilton's tattoos! ;)

How'd you know, Wolfgang?!? I used Photoshop to lift her tramp stamp and copy it to a bare cork ;)

Clos Roche Blanche (not right either but what the hell). You're right about the bird.

Quite right, Tom, it's not CRB.

Also not correct but Thierry Puzelat In Côt We Trust 2008. Just for the fun of it.

Right you are, Tim. It's not Puzelat, either. Eventually, we may just get there via process of elimination.

I think I have seen these corks at my local homebrew shop?? Is it a trick question?

David McDuff said...

Nope, no trick. It really is from a bottle of Côt from the Touraine....

Ricard?

David McDuff said...

Nope. The Ricard stoppers, at least all those I've ever seen, all have the circle-R design along with the name of the estate. One more down, though.

Are we far from Roche Blanche then?

David McDuff said...

No, SGB, not far. Only 10 or 12 kilometers away....
