Yessiree folks, it's time for another episode of "Name That Wine." Anyone care to hazard a guess as to what I enjoyed with dinner over the last couple of nights?
And by the way, did I already mention that the DIAM is my preferred alternative in-neck closure? Why yes, yes I did.

How about a hint besides red wine?
Um, it was good.... Does that help? The "cork" is the only other hint I'm giving, at least until one or two other folks have taken a crack at it.
Producer = Corte Gardoni
Wine = Bardolino Le Fontane
Vintage = not current release (2004?)
Nice guess, Tom, as Corte Gardoni have been experimenting with various alternative closures over the last couple of vintages. Not quite right, though.... So, here's the first clue: it's not Italian. And here's the second: it's not French.
Moric Blaufrankisch
Alright TWG, now you're starting to scare me. It's not the Moric, though that has been all over the vinosphere of late AND I too do have a post on it in the works. So... another clue: it's not Austrian.
Sharrott Cab Franc?
Keller Spatburgunder? If it is I'll be pissed.
On 2nd thought I see the price on the Felix and think twice about my impulse.
TWG,
Where to start? Even though I've been on a HUGE NJ wine kick of late, no, it's not Sharrott Cab Franc. In fact -- clue 4 -- it's not a NJ wine.
If it were Keller Spatburgunder I'd be pissed too, as it would be a cork from a wine I've never tasted. Hell, I've visited Keller's estate and still haven't tasted any of his Spatburgunders.... Yes, Felix is expensive but it doesn't hold a candle to Riesling G-Max. You did notice the "G" on the Diam now, didn't you?
PS: Clue 5 -- no, it's not German either.
That 'G' (if it is in fact a 'g') looks like the 'g' of Guímaro (of Ribera Sacra fame). Is that what it is?
You nailed it, Joe. Well done. I knew there had to be someone reading out there who drinks Spanish from time to time. If all goes well with writing, and time doesn't get away from me, details should follow in the next few days.
