Mote

Ok, I usually leave this stuff up to Lyle and Joe. But this morning, sitting at the computer, writing up some wine notes, I noticed Goo out of the corner of my eye and decided to pop it into the CD drive. Man, had I forgotten how good this album – yes, album – is. Pure Sonic power drive, plenty of hooks interspersed with nervy discord. I can picture Kim jumping on the stage at CBGB or the 9:30 Club as my head rushes.

Don't leave it up to me and Lyle. More youtube. Youtube, youtube, youtube....

Especially in the context of when Goo came out, a relatively rough time for pop music, the album is a solid listen.

I had a HUGE poster of the Goo album cover in my bedroom in high school. (Yep, I'm younger than you!)

for me it was sophomore year in college with goo. there are a few great tracks, like the utterly sick last sone, titanium expose. it was that song that made me go buy everything they did. hard to pick a favorite album, but i'd have to put evol and confusion is sex right up there. man, who knew i'd go back to 1990 when i came over today....

Ahh, my brethren. Glad I could conjure some fond memories for a few of you.

Thanks for the encouragement, Joe. I already knew that, Taylor! And yes, BG, I'm a tad older than you as well. '90 was the end of grad school for me.

Bad Moon Rising, Sister, Daydream Nation. In no particular order. I'd be hard pressed to name a more consistently solid band.

I think my blog's name is more than long enough already, Lyle, but you're probably right. I've already thought about other possibilities.... Thanks for the bug.
