Looking At You

1970. Without meaning to, Wayne Kramer -- in spite of Rob Tyner's crazy fro, gap tooth, bad t-shirt and white pants -- led the MC5 down the path toward becoming one of the most influential punk precursor bands of his generation. The video quality is not particularly good but that's more than made up for by Fred "Sonic" Smith's action on stage. Just watch the legs. Anne Murray, eat your heart out.

Great video great song. Not to be too picky, but Kramer is the guy on the left with the see through shirt doing the guitar solo. They guy in the white pants in Rob Tyner. Then there's Fred Smith doing some variation of the Charleston on the right. My favorite part of that is when Kramer finishes one of the guitar solo's without strumming, letting you know if you didn't already that it's just some lip-syncing for tv.

D'oh! I think I remembered that in the back of my head somewhere. The hair just got the better of me.

Fixed, by the way. Cheers!

Fantastic stuff! I'd no idea that there WAS any MC5 captured on video. And I certainly had no idea that Anne Murray was from Nova Scotia (even if I knew she was from Canada). Thanks, this probably made my day.

Hey WP,
I'm glad I could brighten your day. You may want to do a quick MC5 search on YouTube, as you'll find at least a couple of other video snippets.
