One Word, Two Words, Three Words, True Words

Enjoyed a great meal with friends and family at Marigold Kitchen last weekend. As I opted not to take detailed wine notes, I thought this would be as good a time as any to respond in kind to some of my peers' demonstrations of anti-verbosity. So here you have it, the first (and very possibly last) installment of rapid fire reviews at MFWT. One word, two words, three words -- on three wines. Hopefully, my friends and gracious readers, you will forgive me the luxury of photos.

Vouvray “Cuvée Tradition,” François Pinon 2006
Apple.
Ambient cave.
Definitely not corked.

Savennières-Coulée de Serrant “Clos de la Coulée de Serrant,” Nicolas Joly 2004
Massive.
Jerez honey.
Definitely not oxidized.

Nebbiolo d’Alba Valmaggiore, M. Marengo 2003
Extracted.
Hollow leg.
Definitely not elegant.

Maybe a new way to review wines. Your three words says everything 99% of wine drinkers want to know before buying a wine. Between this post and Joe Roberts weekly twitter reviews who needs a dissertation from Mr. Parker.

While it tells the story, quite well as a matter of fact....I miss the long, passionate verbage, I like the texture of your more loquacious posts

Joeshico,
Mr. Who? Seriously, you flatter. And I did have fun with the minimalistic, pseudo-poetic approach. Even so, I'm with...

Sam,
Cheers to you too. I'm not sure I'll never do the stoic thing again as threatened, but I too prefer my more textural posts. Definitely more satisfying, at least to me, and that's why I do this in the first place.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks Andrew,
It was great to meet you and your family and our pleasure to share a glass of the Savennières. Keep an eye out for my write-up of Marigold... due up soon.
