Well put.

I should clarify my earlier response to Tom H's question by adding that I tend to perform wine self-service (and try to be undemanding) when dining in a BYO scenario. I've eaten at Aimee and Bryan's places often enough that they and their staff know this and tend to let me do my own thing.

As a rule, though, if you're dining at TT's kitchen table, you should expect to receive the same high level of service, including attention to stemware, as you would at the farmhouse table.David McDuffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274955351036700406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8017457764988110566.post-87069764239693377902008-07-26T09:01:00.000-04:002008-07-26T09:01:00.000-04:00Talula's has over 200 various shapes and sizes of ...Talula's has over 200 various shapes and sizes of stemware from champagne to sherry, port, cordials, old reds, etc. They choose the glass based on the wine you bring. Like all of Talula's, they reflect the artistry and whimsy of the shop.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8017457764988110566.post-71696979843929568902008-07-25T11:28:00.000-04:002008-07-25T11:28:00.000-04:00Hi Jack,Long time no see. It's not that I find the wines or think of the wines as oaky, it's just that I've always noticed their oak influence, something I tend to be acutely aware of as a taster. Definitely tune into it the next time you drink a Movia wine and let me know what you find.David McDuffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274955351036700406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8017457764988110566.post-88756035654367072352008-07-24T23:29:00.000-04:002008-07-24T23:29:00.000-04:00I've had many different bottles of Movia wines, an...I've had many different bottles of Movia wines, and, well, at best, to me, the oak is always in the background. Oak is just not something that comes to mind when I think of their wines. Still, I'll try to remember to look for it in the future.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8017457764988110566.post-46630583448474779452008-07-24T18:58:00.000-04:002008-07-24T18:58:00.000-04:00TWG,Glad to hear it. With a touch of age with cheese, dessert or just after a meal.

TH,

We did not.

There actually is quite a range of stemware -- some of it winsome, some of it serious -- at Talula's, so they might just have been able to provide fresh stems for each wine. We were pretty casual in terms of approach that night, though, so I just did a little wine rinse in between wines and then poured in the same glass, switching stems only between bubbles, whites and reds.

I do sometimes take my own stemware to BYOs, particularly if I know the place uses tiny stems or juice glasses. It's funny that you ask in the context of this post, as I almost always carried my own glasses to Django when Aimee and Bryan were at the helm there.David McDuffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274955351036700406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8017457764988110566.post-75941757958284026592008-07-24T08:05:00.000-04:002008-07-24T08:05:00.000-04:00Did you bring your own stemware for this event?I a...Did you bring your own stemware for this event?

I ask this because I wonder whether an establishment with 1 table, is BYOB, whould have enough stems for each of these courses?

And, if the restaurant provided the stems, were they suitable for you and your guests?

FWIW, I almost always bring my own stems to BYOBs.Tom Hudsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11245765758735404214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8017457764988110566.post-79534068398692431292008-07-23T23:12:00.000-04:002008-07-23T23:12:00.000-04:00I prefer the Vajra Moscato with a few years of age...I prefer the Vajra Moscato with a few years of age, discovered by mistake.
